Navajo Transitional Energy Company (NTEC) is the only major US coal producer focused exclusively on the Powder River Basin. NTEC assumed ownership of Cloud Peak’s assets in 2019 following Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. The company owns and operates three surface coal mines and two projects, all in the PRB. NTEC will produce approximately 44 Mst in 2023, of which about 5.5 Mst will be exported from Westshore Terminal in Canada.
