Report summary
Guizhou is the largest coal-producing province in southern China and is one of a few provinces with undeveloped metallurgical coalfields. Guizhou mainly produces medium to high rank coals ranging from hard coking coal to bituminous thermal coal. Despite the high quality of its coal resources, safety operations at small-scale mines will remain a key risk for the province. Guizhou is a high-cost producing region. The province's underground mines are gassy and dangerous, which increases the cost of production.
