Shandong coal supply summary
Report summary
Shandong province is rich in fat-gas and gas coal, which is used as hard coking coal. Its location on the eastern coast allows coal produced in the province to be supplied to the seaborne coastal market with minimal transport costs. Shandong coal producers have suffered badly from heavy industry-wide losses, which are attributed to weak coal demand and prices over the past few years. We expect coal production from the province to fall over the longer term.
