Met coal output down 13Mt on Queensland rail damage
Report summary
Significant flooding from Cyclone Debbie has resulted in extensive damage to Aurizon's coal rail infrastructure in Queensland. The most impacted is the Goonyella rail system which is the main rail line used to export metallurgical coal from the Bowen Basin. The impact to hard coking coal and PCI output is significant, and we expect a significant price impact. Price increases to value-in-use levels seen last year and in 2011 are not beyond the realms of possibility.
