Metropolitan coal mine
Report summary
Metropolitan is underground metallurgical coal mine located on the South coast of New South Wales 30 kilometres north of Wollongong. Coal is mined from the Bulli seam using a longwall and continuous miners. The mine produces predominantly hard and semi-hard coking coal for export and domestic markets. The mine is the oldest operating coal mine in Australia with operations dating back to the 1880's.
