In the last decade, Indonesia has benefited from increased integration with global markets. Export of commodities and minerals are a major source of revenue and employment generation. The strong growth has led to a rapid increase in energy consumption. Per capita electricity consumption has increased an estimated 30% since 2010. However, its energy mix remains hydrocarbon heavy. Declining gas production is driving LNG demand. Low cost domestic coal resources are supporting growth in power generation as well as liquefaction and gasification in the industrial sector. Renewable capacity comprising solar, wind and geothermal is starting to increase, albeit slowly. Read the report to find out how the energy mix and emissions will evolve for power and industrial sectors over the next twenty years. The cross-fuel dataset for this update can be found via the Energy Markets Data Tool, which is accessible on our portal. Select ‘Tools & Models’ and scroll down to Energy Markets.
