After a dramatic recovery in 2016, Algerian exports (pipe and LNG) were maintained close to 54 bcm in 2017. Algerian exports are expected to remain high through the early 2020 as on-going work at Hassi R'Mel. additional sales gas from legacy oil fields and new projects in the southwest help Algeria defend its market position in Europe. Long-term however the same risks and need to develop new replacement supply remains.
