Coronavirus: Impact on European gas markets (16 April)
Report summary
As coronavirus case numbers continue to grow across Europe, many countries are tightening and extending containment measures to limit the spread. Our weekly update includes a refresh of our Pan-Europe report and detailed country reports for Germany, UK, Italy, France, Spain, Netherlands and Belgium - which together account for over 70% of European gas demand. Extending the loss of gas demand since lockdowns from pre-coronavirus projections over a three-month period, we estimate 16.9 bcm of lost gas demand in 2020 from the markets covered.
