Europe’s supply mix has shifted dramatically in response to the demand slump this year. Flows from Algeria collapsed, Norway withheld volumes and Russia's Gazprom revised down its forecast of exports. But there is additional space in the European market both for further incremental LNG and Russian pipeline imports. While demand destruction in 2020 will see imports fall by some 17 bcm year-on-year, Europe’s structural reliance on imports continues to rise as indigenous production falls – and by 2030 imports will again reach 2019 levels.
