Commodity Market Report
Europe gas and LNG imports and contracts long-term outlook H2 2019
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
In 2019, high LNG availability and Russia's willingness to maintain market share combined to send European prices to record lows. European buyers will continue to benefit from the global over-supply in 2020 and 2021. Then, the market will gradually re-balance. As indigenous production keeps declining, Europe's import needs will keep growing and there will be space for both Russia and LNG. The recent renewal of the Russia-Ukraine transit deals ensure transit continuity at least until 2024. We also see scope for additional regas capacity before the mid-2020s. However, growth potential for other piped supplies to Europe has weakened.
