Revised national plans and EU renewables ambition for 2030: draft NECPs fall short
Report summary
During the second half of 2023, EU Member States submitted updated National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs). The objective of this redrafting was to better align country-level policy objectives with the increased ambition of Europe’s 2030 energy transition goals. Our analysis reveals that, while national targets have risen, the sum of draft objectives falls short of the region's 42.5% renewable energy target.
