Report summary
Global gas demand will increase at an average annual rate of 1.6% from 2019 to 2040, with demand reaching 4,586 bcm by 2030 and 5,110 bcm by 2040. Gas demand will increase by a third by the end of the forecast. Easily outpacing overall gas demand, LNG reaches more than 80% above 2020 levels by 2040, accounting for 18% of total gas consumption, up from 13% this year. Piped gas still demonstrates strong growth - up 24% over the period.
