Indonesia gas markets: 2019 long-term regional outlook
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
In February 2019, Repsol announced discovery of 2-tcf Kali Berau Dalam field, providing gas supplies for Indonesia in the mid-term to replace declining Corridor field. The volume can serve the key Indonesian demand centres of Sumatra and West Java. Gas demand growth will be limited in the near-term as new coal-fired power plants are expected to come online. In the long-term, gas demand will pick up in in late 2020s primarily driven by the power sector. LNG will play a bigger role in the supply mix given declining pipeline production. On the market structure side, PERTAMINA and PGN merger is technically completed but implementation process is still on-going. Apart from integrating the downstream pipeline business, the LNG portfolio will reportedly be under PGN as well.
