Commodity Market Report
Indonesia LNG market outlook
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Overall gas demand in Indonesia will increase by 77% in 2050 from 2023 demand. The power and industrial sectors will dominate overall demand. Coal-to-gas switching and new gas-to-power projects will lead to an increase in gas power generation capacity. LNG share in Indonesia’s gas supply balance will surge from 16% in 2023 to 85% in 2050 with decreasing domestic gas production. We expect Indonesia to switch from LNG exporter to net importer by the early 2040s as legacy field production will not meet increasing demand.
Table of contents
- Expect r obust LNG demand growth through out the forecast as legacy fields deplete and consumption rises.
- We expect that Indonesia will become a net LNG importer in the 2040s and will rely on international LNG imports.
- Regulated prices introduced in 2020 have failed to spur up gas demand upside as expected.
