North America gas weekly update: Freedom gas?
Report summary
• 70 bcf injection expected • East 23 bcf, Midwest 26 bcf, Mountain 5 bcf, Pacific 5 bcf, South Central 11 bcf • Salt storage withdraws -5 bcf Another delay for more freedom gas has created havoc for global gas markets. With already less Russian piped gas flows, global gas prices continue their upward spike. Conversely, with 2 bcfd of lower LNG feedgas requirements for longer if regulatory approvals to restart Freeport LNG are delayed, Henry Hub gas prices are sliding fast. Additive would be if “hidden” US gas production is not being properly monitored by our gas pipeline flows. If behind the higher than forecast weekly storage injections, US gas storage deficits may narrow in a lot more quicker despite elevated power demand continuing.
