Commodity Market Report
North America gas weekly update: Record US LNG exports
Report summary
A mild April is allowing injections to accelerate more quickly than historical averages, thereby increasing the L48 US working gas storage surplus. However, record US LNG exports and drifting US gas production are creating a tighter market on a fundamental level. The expansion of the L48 working gas storage surplus will halt by the week ending 28 April. However, risks of a return to looser North America gas market balances exist if: • US LNG trains undergo heavier-than-normal maintenance • US gas production recovers higher with pipeline maintenance ending • Below normal cooling degree days reduce early summer power loads
