October 2024 is closing out as one of the mildest on record. November weather forecasts also lack any signs of significant cold, and, as a result, storage injections are likely to extend into the middle of next month. After contracting significantly by over 500 bcf this summer, US gas storage is once again starting to expand for the week ending 25 October versus the five-year average to 185 bcf. By mid-November, the surplus might expand further to 270 bcf before the delayed start of winter withdrawal season. This weekly natural gas commodity report seeks to explore: • How low are current heating degree day forecasts? • Is US gas production rebounding? • Are risks emerging for US LNG delays?
