On 4 August 2016, the 138,074m³ Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) Excelerate docked at Ruwais in Abu Dhabi. The vessel has been chartered from Excelerate Energy and had previously been used mainly as an LNG carrier since 2006. This is the first facility that allows Abu Dhabi to import LNG. The nominal regas capacity of the FSRU is 500 mmcfd (peak 690 mmcfd).The FSRU allows Abu Dhabi to increase the diversity of its imports away from a reliance on Qatari piped gas. The ...
