On 4 August 2016, the 138,074m³ Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) Excelerate docked at Ruwais in Abu Dhabi. The vessel has been chartered from Excelerate Energy and had previously been used mainly as an LNG carrier since 2006. This is the first facility that allows Abu Dhabi to import LNG.
