BOTAS, the Turkish state owned national oil and gas systems operator, commissioned a second Floating and Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) near Hatay (South East Turkey), the second most populous region after the North West. The project was announced in late 2016 and was originally scheduled to come online in November 2017. Although the FSRU (Challenger) arrived as planned in November 2017, ongoing infrastructure work of the terminal has delayed the start-up date to 7 February.
