Commodity Market Report
Kuwait LNG long-term outlook 2015
Report summary
Kuwait is a member of OPEC and a major oil and gas producer. In 2009, the country turned to LNG imports via a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) to meet further requirements in power. Peak power demand during the hot summer months (April to October) is driven by air conditioning loads, making the country's gas demand very seasonal. Domestic production has increased over recent years but has failed to keep pace with rising demand and resulted in widespread power shortages.
