North America LNG: Keeping the growth dream alive
Report summary
This is the third LNG presentation delivered at Wood Mackenzie’s Global Energy Summit – Focus Week: Gas & LNG, on 5 October 2021. Despite the huge growth in Gulf Coast LNG to date, it is a region, still, with significant pent-up supply. Spread across Texas and Louisiana are numerous projects fully permitted for construction and exports, several with signed EPC contracts, and therefore truly build-ready. The issue for most has been getting the capacity contracted with customers needed for financing purposes. But this year, commercial momentum has returned in a big way. Tellurian’s Driftwood LNG announced 9 mmtpa in SPAs with Gunvor, Vitol, and Shell. Venture Global’s second project, Plaquemines LNG, added 1.5 mmtpa with PGNiG, and Corpus Christi Stage 3 signed another integrated production marketing agreement equal to about 0.85 mmtpa.
