Since 2010, over 35 tcf of gas has been discovered in three large blocks in the Rovuma and Tanzania Coastal basins offshore southern Tanzania. Blocks 1 and 4 are operated by a Shell-led consortium and Block 2 by a Equinor-led consortium (until May 2018 known as Statoil).
