Discovered in 2016, Tortue is a giant, deepwater Cretaceous gas field straddling the border of Senegal and Mauritania. The field will be commercialised through an LNG development in phases. First gas from phase 1 is currently scheduled for 2023. In February 2018, Mauritania and Senegal signed an Inter-Governmental Cooperation Agreement (ICA).
