Kenya: Presidential re-election and its impact on oil exports
Report summary
Wood Mackenzie's sister company, Verisk Maplecroft, examines the upcoming presidential elections in Kenya. Verisk Maplecroft’s election model indicates that it is highly likely that President Uhuru Kenyatta will win re-election in the first round of the August 2017 elections. A win for Kenyatta and his Jubilee Alliance Party would result in business as usual for the oil and gas industry. However, it would likely mean a challenging year for community relations in Turkana county, the location of the oil deposits.
