Pedro Pablo Kuczynski narrowly wins Peru’s presidential election
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Pedro Pablo Kucyzynski came from behind to clinch a narrow victory over long-time front-runner Keiko Fujimori in the second round of Peru’s presidential elections held on 5 June. Increasing investment into the hydrocarbons sector is a goal shared by President-elect Kuczynski and the legislature. Nevertheless, one of the biggest problems facing the new government will be its own lack of a strong legislative presence and robust opposition from Fujimori’s party, which holds a majority of seats in Congress.
