Aguilar zinc mine
Report summary
Aguilar is a SEDEX deposit combined with a contact replacement deposit being mined by underground method since 2018. Before it was mined by both underground and open pit methods. The material is processed through a 2.4ktpd mill which produces a zinc concentrate and a lead concentrate. All lead concentrate is treated at Glencore’s Palpala lead smelter and all zinc concentrate is exported. The Aguilar zinc concentrate contains around 1.5%Mn. A major challenge for the mine is to increase their reserves and resources which have decreased considerably in the past few years.
