Report summaryThe accompanying analysis covers the long-term possibility of re-starting production from the historic Ajo mine. In May 1997 a decision was taken to build a new mill associated infrastructure and re-start production in 1999. However, environmental permitting was delayed and the project was suspended. Following the permanent closure of both Hidalgo and Hurley smelters there was no longer the requirement for concentrate feed that Ajo could provide. As at Q3 2013 Ajo was being considered along with Twin Buttes and Lone Star as potential future projects but no firm development timeframe was disclosed. No further developments were reported in 2015.
