Report summary
Operated by Qinghai Jintai Lithium, Balunmahai is a lithium brine project located in Lenghu County, Qinghai, China. Using solvent and centrifugal extraction methods, Jintai Lithium has the capacity to produce 3ktpy of lithium chloride and lithium carbonate at the Balunmahai Salt Lake. An expansion to 10ktpy is expected to become operational in 2022. This will use absorption technology to produce battery grade lithium carbonate. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating several granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry-standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now.
