The Browns Project was planned to be developed in two stages; the first stage involved the exploitation of an oxide-mineralised layer, situated over the sulphide deposit. The development of the oxide and sulphide deposits was governed by separate agreements. The oxide project, commenced operations in 2008 and then closed in early 2009 after Compass Resources had gone into voluntary administration, this is covered by a separate analysis. The second stage, which is the subject of this analysis, involves the mining and processing of the polymetallic sulphide orebody that underlies the oxide orebody and extends to Browns East. On June 17, 2016 it was announced that Korda Mentha were appointed receivers and managers of Compass Resources Ltd and until further notice the receivers had assumed control of the company. Ferrier Hodgson had acted as voluntary administrators of Compass since 2009.
