Canadian Malartic gold mine
Report summary
The property is owned and operated by the Canadian Malartic partnership, a 50:50 joint venture (JV) between Yamana Gold and Agnico Eagle. The mine is a conventional truck and shovel open pit operation with ore treatment in an agitated leach plant (with a nominal capacity of 55kt/d) to produce a gold-silver dore. The mine was developed and commissioned by Osisko Mining in 2011 at initial capital costs of US$1.1 billion. In February 2021, the partnership announced the approval of construction of the Odyssey underground project at Canadian Malartic. The Odyssey project is forecast to gradually start production in the first half of 2023.
