Report summary
The Cartagena (Escombreras) zinc smelter project was part of a recovery plan put in place for the then existing Cartagena smelter owned by Española del Zinc. It was proposed to commission in late 2011 with a production capacity of 65kt/a but Española del Zinc was declared insolvent the year before.
