Castle Mountain is a past-producing operation (1992-2003) located in California, USA. It operated as a conventional truck and shovel open pit operation. Ore was processed by heap leaching methods in a carbon-in-column (CIC) circuit. Equinox Gold acquired the mine in December 2017 through the acquisition of NewCastle Gold. Commercial production from Castle Mountain Phase 1 was achieved on 21 November 2020. The Phase 2 feasibility study was completed in Q1 2021 and details an increase in gold production to average 218koz per annum for 14 years. The Phase 2 expansion is expected to begin production in 2025 and stretch until 2038 with two years of residual leaching.
