The Esperanza mine is in the Sierra Gorda region of Chile, located 5km from Antofagasta's El Tesoro mine operation. An open pit mining operation feeds a plant producing copper concentrate with additional gold by-product credits. The oxide resource pre-stripped as a part of the overburden is dump leached on site with the resulting pregnant leach solution (PLS) pumped to the neighbouring El Tesoro plant.
