Operated by Qinghai Salt Lake BYD Resource Development Co Ltd, Chaerhan 2 is a lithium brine project located in Qinghai province, China. Chaerhan Salt Lake is the largest dry salt lake in China and the third-largest in the world. This project was proposed by Qinghai Salt Lake Industrial in cooperation with BYD in 2016 with a capacity of 30 ktpy battery-grade lithium carbonate. The project construction is currently suspended but is expected to restart in 2022.
