Asset Report
Chiba steel plant
Report summary
JFE Steel East Japan Works in Chiba is located at the centre of the Keiyo (Tokyo-Chiba) Industrial Zone. The East Japan Works arose out of the consolidation (in 2003) of Kawasaki Steel's Chiba plant located on the east-side of Tokyo Bay and NKK's Keihin works which is located on the west-side. This profile note focuses on the Chiba plant which specialises in producing high value-added sheet products including hot and cold rolled coils, coated sheet (including hot-dip galvanised, electro-galvanised, and electrolytic tinning), UOE pipe and cold rolled stainless steel grades - which account for approximately 30% of Chiba's total steel output. Note we have excluded stainless steel production from our analysis.
