Report summary

JFE Steel East Japan Works in Chiba is located at the centre of the Keiyo (Tokyo Chiba) Industrial Zone. The East Japan Works arose out of the consolidation (in 2003) of Kawasaki Steel's Chiba plant located on the east side of Tokyo Bay and NKK's Keihin works which is located on the west side. This profile note focuses on the Chiba plant which specialises in producing high value added sheet products including hot and cold rolled coils coated sheet (including hot dip galvanised electro galvanised and electrolytic tinning) UOE pipe and cold rolled stainless steel grades which account for approximately 30% of Chiba's total steel output. Note we have excluded stainless steel production from our analysis.
