Asset Report
Chichester Hub iron ore mine
Report summary
Chichester Hub, comprising the Cloudbreak and Christmas Creek mines, is a large scale surface mine in the Pilbara, owned and operated by Fortescue Metals (FMG). Chichester is FMG's oldest and highest cost mining hub - although still a low cost supplier to the seaborne market. Costs at Chichester are higher than FMG's other operations due to the lower mass recovery, longer raw haul distance and mining is below the water table. FMG has a 20km relocatable conveyor at the Cloudbreak site and has converted all 100 haul trucks at the hub to Autohaul. These changes are expected to reduce haulage costs and improve efficiencies.
