Copper's CESCO week: 5 key talking points
Report summary
Last week we attended CESCO week in Santiago, Chile. The gathering has been a regular fixture in the industry calendar for over twenty years, bringing together producers, consumers, traders and the financial community. With copper prices range bound in recent weeks, the topics for discussion remained relatively unchanged since our 2019 market preview. The impact of macro-economic headwinds on demand, the relative ability of mines and smelters to meet guidance and the role of sentiment on prices were among the main discussion themes. In this insight we are concentrating on five main areas, and have highlighted the key questions raised.
