Donimalai iron ore mine

Report summary

Donimalai is a complex comprising of the Donimalai mine and Kumaraswamy project. It is approximately 1,500 kilometres south of New Delhi in the Indian State of Karnataka. The mine is owned and operated by the state-owned mining company NMDC. Iron ore mining capacity at Donimalai will increase to 14-15 Mtpa once the 7 Mtpa Kumaraswamy project has fully ramped up. The mine commenced production in mid 2017 and a project to produce 1.2 Mtpa of pellets from tailings was also being commissioned at the end of the year. All production from the mine is supplied to domestic steel mills.
