Report summary

Donimalai is a complex comprising of the Donimalai mine and Kumaraswamy project. It is approximately 1 500 kilometres south of New Delhi in the Indian State of Karnataka. The mine is owned and operated by the state owned mining company NMDC. Iron ore mining capacity at Donimalai will increase to 14 15Mtpa once the 7 Mtpa Kumaraswamy project is operating. This was expected to commence operation in 2016 but in now due to commence in mid 2017. A project to produce 1.2Mtpa of pellets from tailings is also being commissioned and is expected to commence production in the first half of 2017. All production from the mine is supplied to domestic steel mills.
