Hawsons iron ore mine

Report summary

Hawsons is a proposed iron ore mine that will produce 11Mtpa of high-grade DR pellet feed. The mine site is located near Broken Hill, New South Wales, and the pellet feed would be transported via existing rail lines to Port Pirie in South Australia for export. The project is expected to have both low capex and opex for a pellet feed operation. Capex will be low because most of the infrastructure is already available. Opex will be low because the ore is soft and electricity will be sourced from Australia's National Electricity Network which has lower power prices compared to the Pilbara. Funding is currently being sought for a bankable feasibility study.
