Ijmuiden is favourably-located on the coast of Holland, with its own port facilities. The plant is part of Tata Steel's Strip Products Mainland Europe, and they produce hot rolled, cold rolled and metallic coated strip. Ijmuiden was originally a Koninklijke Hoogovens plant. Koninklijke Hoogovens merged with British Steel in 2001 to create Corus, which in turn was bought by Tata Steel in October 2006. Ijmuiden is one of the lowest-cost and highest-margin steel plants in Western Europe.
