Ilo copper refinery

Report summary

The refinery is located 9km north of the port of Ilo on the southern Peru coast and has adequate road and sea links. The tankhouse was supplied to Minero-Peru on a turn-key basis by Mitsui-Furukawa and the anode plant was constructed by Minero-Peru using Maerz as consultants.  The plant was commissioned in October 1975 at a cost of US$56M with a capacity of 150kt/a cathode.  It was designed and located specifically to treat blister from the nearby Ilo smelter owned by SPCC.  The capacity was...
