Report summary
The refinery is located at Huaymanta, 4km from La Oroya, Yauli Province and has adequate road and rail links. The plant is adjacent to the La Oroya smelter and was expanded to 58kt/a cathode in 1977. It is unusual in that it refines anodes cast directly from blister copper. Up to 75% of the cathode produced is melted in an on-site Asarco furnace and cast as shapes, mainly wirebar.
