Construction of the 100kt/a smelter was started in March 2004 with commissioning taking place in August 2005. It is called the Lanping No2 Smelter (Huangmu was known as Lanping No1). After ore-dressing, the oxide and sulphide streams are treated in separate lines. The sulphide representing 30% of input, is roasted whilst the oxide, 70% of input, is leached after crushing and ball grinding and then joins the sulphide stream for electrowinning and casting.
