Lisheen zinc mine
Report summary
Lisheen is comprised by underground mining and a 6kt/d ore concentrator. The primary mining methods adopted at Lisheen were room-and-pillar and drift-and-fill, with blast hole stoping used in thicker areas of the deposit. The concentrator used sequential flotation and operated 365 days a year at a capacity of around 5,000tpd. After 17 years of operation, mining at Lisheen stopped in November 2015 and the planned closure of the mill occurred in December 2015.
