Merian gold mine
Report summary
Merian is the largest greenfield gold project commissioned since the end of the gold bull run in late-2012. The operations comprise three orogenic gold deposits. Merian is mined using conventional truck and shovel mining methods at a series of open pits with ore processed in a 12Mt/a carbon in leach (CIL) circuit. The gold dore produced at the mine is shipped to Argor-Heraeus in Switzerland for refining. Commercial production commenced in October 2016. Based on end of 2020 reserves, the mine is expected to operate until 2035.
