Report summary

Minntac is a surface mine located in Minnesota's Mesabi Iron Range near Mountain Iron, Minnesota. It is the largest iron ore mine in the United States, with an annual production capacity of 15 Mtpa.  US Steel owns 100% of the operation. The company expects potential expenditures of more than US$200 million to install dry waste gas controls to address fugitive dust emission violations. The United Steelworkers union has negotiated a labour agreement allowing a 2% per annum increase in wages, over and above inflation. We have factored this rise in labour rates in our forward-looking C1 cash costs for Minntac.
