Report summary
Minorca is a surface mine owned and operated by Cleveland-Cliffs located in Minnesota's Mesabi Iron Range, near the town of Virginia. The operation produces fluxed and non-fluxed pellets which we've assumed are being sold into the open market to steelmakers in the US and Canada. Minorca's costs increased 3% in 2023 compared to 2022 amid higher inflationary pressure and oil prices. In 2024 and beyond, we anticipate inflationary effects to continue affecting the cost level for the operation while there is no expected reduction from fixed cost dilution as the production level should remain steady.
