Narrain iron ore mine
Report summary
Narrain is a small surface mine in the Indian state of Karnataka. The mine is operated by Vedanta Limited, who are majority owned by Vedanta Resources. Operations at Narrain were suspended for two-years in 2012 and 2013 because of a state-wide ban on mining and then because of delays in renewing mining leases. Narrain re-started production in 2014 with a production quota of 2.3 Mtpa (dry) but this has now been increased to 6 Mtpa (wet). Average cash costs will remain steady going forward.
