Report summary
Nimba (Yekepa) is ArcelorMittal's Liberia operations. Its four deposits are approximately 111 kilometres north-east of the capital Monrovia. ArcelorMittal has been mining DSO at Yekepa since 2011 and rails its product 250 km to the port at Buchanan. In April 2021 ArcelorMittal announced a decision to progress with the proposed Phase 2 expansion. This will include the construction of an additional ship loader at Port Buchanan and a concentrator to process the lower-grade ore, which will increase production to 20 Mtpa. As a brownfield expansion, ArcelorMittal believes phase 2 will be fully commissioned by the end of 2025.
